Job Title: Spanish Tutor

Position Type: Professional Tutor

Department: Learning Commons

Pay: $9.50 - $17.00/hr (depending on education and training)

Tutor Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Provide tutorial support for instruction (classroom, online, self-paced) etc.
  • Promote independence in learning
  • Tutor students at multiple levels of ability
  • Positively represent the tutoring center by maintaining a level professionalism in conduct, appearance, and interactions with students, tutors, instructors, and staff
  • Cultivate a working knowledge of skills development, subject matter, and learning strategies
  • Modify and develop your tutoring skills to meet individual student’s needs and to adjust to the learning styles of your students
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Be ready to work at scheduled times
  • Arrange for substitutes if necessary.
  • Notify your timesheet supervisor and lab coordinator when you will be absent
  • Attend scheduled tutor meetings; participate in professional development
  • Submit timesheets on a bi-weekly basis, noting any changes in the schedule in the “Comments” section at the bottom
  • Check email every day you are at work for important correspondence from supervisors, coworkers, and the college

Minimum Qualifications- Tutor

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in field to be tutored (unofficial transcript required)
  • Faculty referral

Preferred Qualifications- Professional Tutor

·         Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in field to be tutored (unofficial transcript required)

  • Experience tutoring and/or teaching Spanish

Conditions of Employment

  • Must meet Variable Hourly conditions of employment as outlined by Human Resources
  • Completed background check
  • Completed application packet
  • Complete a three hour training within the first three weeks of employment

Term:  One semester; tutors may be reappointed for successive semesters

 

 

Compensation       

$9.50-$17.00/hr (depending on education and training)

 

To remain employed:

  • Tutors must demonstrate satisfactory performance and adherence to the expectations and policies for RRCC tutors
  • Tutors must receive satisfactory evaluations from:
    • Learning Commons Manager
    • Students
    • Department as requested
