Department: Food Services Café

Position Title: Cashier

Position Type: Student Hourly

Job Description: HIRING NOW so you can train during the summer. Café cashier is responsible for accurately ringing up customer orders, receiving monies, counting back appropriate change, etc. Cashiers are also responsible for setting up stations in the front of the house. Additionally, brewing coffee, turning on equipment, filling soda fountain with ice, stocking shelves and coolers, providing excellent customer service, having the ability to lift and move supplies, equipment, furniture and food are all required. Cashiers are also required to clean and sanitize workstations, counters, dining room tables and chairs and other equipment, as well as complete any other tasks assigned. Utility work includes food preparation, sandwich making, line service, adherence to food safety guidelines, cleaning/sanitizing and dish-washing duties.  

Job Requirements: Available shift hours are Monday – Friday 11:00 am 3:00pm. Strong customer service skills are needed as this position will interact with customers when ringing up items on register and as customers enter and exit café. Training will be provided. You must be eligible for student employment (enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours for the semester in which you will be working) to apply for this position.


Skills you will gain/enhance: Customer service skills, state cash handling procedures, how to prioritize “to do” lists.

Job Payment Information:

Wage: $11.50/Hour
Paid: Bi-weekly (Fridays)
