Position Title: Fitness Center Assistant

Position Type: Work-Study or Student Hourly Considered

Job Description: Responsibilities include providing excellent customer service to guests of the SRC. This position's main duty entails conducting front desk operations and monitoring the different facility areas throughout the Student Recreation Center. Fitness Supervisors enforce Campus Recreation policies and procedures in a fair and professional manner and ensure the appropriate use and cleanliness of equipment. They will provide accurate basic fitness information to guests on the fitness floor and will build awareness of programs and events that are being offered through the SRC.  Additional responsibilities include oversight and supervision of sport court areas, ensuring clean towels and antibacterial spray bottles are available to patrons.  Fitness Supervisors will also restock first aid kits.  Other duties include the setting up of equipment such as volleyball nets for open rec play as well as various set ups for classes held in the Student Recreation Center gymnasiums, spotting, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and additional duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Cooperative spirit in working with peers, supervisors, clients and guests;
  • Ability to remain patient and calm in all situations and handle and resolve conflict in a timely and orderly manner.
  • Must be certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED and Standard First Aid or be willing to obtain the certification within 30 days of hire
  • Previous knowledge and background in health, wellness and/or exercise science is preferred but not required.

You must be eligible for student employment (enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours for the semester in which you will be working) to apply for this position.

Job Payment Information:

Wage: $10.20 per hour
Paid: Bi-weekly (Fridays)
