Position Title: VH – Part-Time Office Specialist

Campus: Lakewood

Department: Accessibility Services

Reports to: Director, Accessibility Services

Level: Variable Hour

Job Summary Statement (brief summary of overall responsibility of position):

 The VH – PT Office Specialist is responsible for the daily functions of the Accessibility Services office.

Performs the clerical functions of the office.

Coordinates testing accommodations and procedures.

Provides front desk coverage for the office.  This may include assisting and training student and variable hourly employees.

Essential Functions:

Performs the clerical functions of the office.  Creates and updates confidential student files, processes student accommodations requests, creates and sends accommodations letters.  Creates and updates forms.  Collects data and provides data for various department reports.

Coordinates testing accommodations and procedures.  Proctors and monitors testing including the college placement tests in the private testing room. Coordinates with Testing Administrators in the Assessment Center to ensure the delivery of approved accommodations while students are testing in the Assessment Center.

Provides front desk coverage for the office.  Maintains high quality and friendly front desk coverage.  Interviews, hires, trains and evaluates student and variable hour employees for front desk coverage.  Provides a professional atmosphere for front desk employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education -

Some college coursework

Experience -

General office experience with Microsoft Office and Banner

Special Knowledge, Skills, Abilities - 

Working knowledge of disability law including the ADAAA (Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Knowledge of current trends in higher education for students with disabilities and knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL)

Strong customer services skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Education -

Associates degree

Experience - 

Experience in higher education, specifically working with students with disabilities

Special knowledge, skills, abilities, competencies -
