Red Rocks Community College is seeking one or more hourly Skills Instructors for our EMS program!

Job Summary:

Under indirect supervision this position is responsible for monitoring and teaching the psychomotor component of courses within the department. This position works closely with the EMS program director and course instructors to ensure each student has an appropriate educational experience in the lab setting. The skills instructor will utilize a variety of teaching methods in the practical lab that supports the principles being taught in the course and ensures the student has ample opportunity to master the skills required of an emergency medical provider. Feedback and correction will be offered as well as formal evaluations of student performance. Performance will be reported to the primary instructor who will be responsible for the actual grading and recording of grades. Additionally skills instructors will be responsible for setting up and taking down skills stations and ensuring equipment is used appropriately and in accordance with its design. Skills instructors will address any inappropriate treatment of equipment by students and report any such activity or damage to the primary instructor and/or program director.

Performs assessment of students for content mastery and competence based skills

Sets up and tears down skills stations and ensures equipment is properly cared for

Fill ambulances with Gas

Minimum Qualifications -

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications -

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate’s degree in EMS, education, nursing, or closely related field

 Licenses or Certifications

Minimum Qualifications -

Current Colorado EMS certification. Instructor will be limited to teaching courses consistent with their level of certification

Valid Colorado driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications -

Current Colorado Paramedic or RN, or ability to gain certification within 3 months of employment

Current Colorado CTE credential with endorsements appropriate for EMS, or ability to gain the credential within 3 months of employment

Proof of completion of the Colorado EMS assistant instructor course within 3 months of hire


Minimum Qualifications - 

At least one year of active field experience as an EMS provider at the level being taught

Preferred Qualifications -

Minimum of 3 years of experience as an active Paramedic or ED RN in the patient care setting

Experience that demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in state and national EMS regulatory requirements and education standards at all levels

Prior experience as an EMS educator
