Position Summary: Assists in the review and approval of staff qualifications as needed for issuance of Child Care Director letters, Early Childhood Teacher letters, as well as review of documentation required to receive approved training vendor status. This includes maintenance of related lists or data bases. Provides support in compiling information for programs recommended for adverse licensing action, programs requesting waivers/appeals of licensing regulations or programs requesting from licensing regulations. May also support preparation of information in response to Colorado Open Records Requests. Inspect facilities and authorize the issuance of a license for child care facilities after compliance with rules and regulations has been verified, provide technical assistance, and investigate complaints concerning children in care in order to assure safety of children in and out of home settings when necessary due to fluctuations in the workflow of the Division. Provides customer service duties including providing child care information to the public by interpreting licensing rules, procedures, responding to calls and written reports. Responsibilities will include assisting with phone duty coverage, walk-in visitors to the Office of Early Childhood, and other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, Child Development Economics or a closely related degree to the work assignment.
- One year of professional experience working in a human services field either a private or public entity, which includes working in the group care of children and in child care licensing or related field
- Bachelor’s degree with focus on early childhood education or a related field
- Current or previous license to operate a family child care home or center
- Experience with data entry, answering phones, and providing customer service
- Technical writing skills, investigatory practice, experience working with diverse populations
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Demonstrated documentation, verbal, and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Colorado rules and regulations for child care facilities
- Knowledge of MS computer applications
Starting salary: $47,476 - $47,600/annual
