Adjunct Instructor – Biology


Red Rocks Community College, Lakewood, Colorado


Based on course ratio and credit load – starting rate: $1180.80/Credit Hour.


Provide academic instruction for introductory level Biology courses.

Specific courses:

BIO111 General Biology I w/lab: GT-SCI

Examines the fundamental molecular, cellular, and genetic principles characterizing plants and animals.  This course includes cell structure and function and the metabolic processes of cellular respiration photosynthesis, cell reproduction, and basic concepts of heredity. 

BIO112 General Biology I w/lab: GT-SCI

A continuation of General College Biology I.  This course includes ecology, evolution, plants, and animals.

  • In-class lecture
  • Some course development


Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s degree plus 18 credit hours in a related field

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience in a collegiate environment

Notes on employment as an adjunct instructor: Adjunct instructors are employed on a ‘course to course’ basis and their employment is not contractually ensured. Adjunct instructors are required to establish and contribute to a Colorado Public Employees Retirement Account and they will not contribute to Social Security under this classification. Adjunct instructors are not permitted to teach more than 12 credit hours per semester at RRCC, and no more than 21 credit hours throughout the Colorado Community College System.
