Cadaver Workshop Instructor, Variable Hour – Cadaver Program

 

Start Date: Summer Semester, 2017

 Campus: Arvada

Department: Cadaver Program, Health Sciences

Reports to: Cadaver Supervisor

Compensation: $51.20/hour

Summary

Instructional assignment is comprised of teaching 3 to 3.5 hour-long hands-on cadaver workshops to students enrolled in healthcare or related courses in high school, college or vocational educational institutions.  Perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of the Colorado Community College System.

Responsibilities

Teach day, evening, and/or weekend cadaver workshops in accordance with approved course of study utilizing traditional and alternative methods of instruction. Present instructional material effectively, maintain professional and courteous interaction with students and employees, model dignity, decorum and respect for human remains, demonstrate sensitivity to different learning styles, encourage student engagement, and assist the Cadaver Program Supervisor in maintaining inventory control of equipment and supplies. Properly prepare and return the cadavers in a safe and secure location as outlined by the Cadaver Program Supervisor.  Participate in various college, system, and/or professional activities intended to develop the staff member and enhance his/her ability to teach effectively.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited institution with 18 graduate hours in or related to Biology.

- Thirty (30) semester credit hours of teaching experience to include human anatomy instruction.

- Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach students using human cadavers.

- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom where appropriate.

- Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s or higher in Biology from a fully accredited institution with human anatomy and physiology emphasis.

- Community college teaching experience.

- Experience teaching high school, vocational, college and professional students using human cadavers.

- A strong commitment to effective teaching at the community college and an understanding of its philosophy, role, and mission.
